It's been some years since they played in Luxembourg - it's a strange time to have gig though since it's over a year ago that Scare Yourself was released in Luxembourg. Anyway good luck - I hope you can fill the 800 capacity venue! (What are the odds? )

Anyone up for a ROADTRIP?
Posted: Thu, 2008-03-13 18:15
Oh. My. God.
I can DO this!!
Glasgow to London, London to Luxembourg. Flights, 2 hotels, taxis, tickets.
It's going to cost a bloody fortune but I don't effing care.
I deserve it. And the hall only holds 800??
**floating on ceiling with happiness**
Posted: Thu, 2008-03-13 18:48
Curly... you sure deserve it
I sure would love to go, but ain't got the money for it

But I might go to Fredericia, that I can handle
Posted: Thu, 2008-03-13 19:38
Well, Ginger, I guess I'll be seeing you there!!
I've just bought my tickets!!
NO idea how on earth I'm going to get there yet, there's so many flight/train options but I don't care, I'll crawl there if I have to!!
**actually trembling with excitement!!**
Posted: Thu, 2008-03-13 20:51
tra-lya-lya!!!!
yep, we'll be there! damn, I'm so happy. see you, curly, then!!!!
WIW, what d'you mean by roadtrip? YOu offer your car or need one?
Posted: Thu, 2008-03-13 21:16
Ginger & Curly... I'm SO happy for you guys
Really, really you truly deserve it!
And I'm sure that you're going to have a great time, I really don't doubt that!
Posted: Thu, 2008-03-13 21:19
Now I wanna go too
Posted: Thu, 2008-03-13 21:39
@Ginger:
What I ment is: If anyone from Denmark is going, maybe we should carpull... Make a fun DAD Roadtrip trip of it.
Depending on how many, we just need a bigger car or bus:)
The car I drive can onky hold 4 (5if we cramp). That will make a nice social trip
There is around 900KM from where I am, but we (or I) can pick ppl up in Kolding and all the way down through Germany.
Airline ticket can be bought from ca.2000 to 3000DKr and a carpull can make the trip MUCH cheaper...and we can fill the trunk with cheap beer when we drive back... Its a WIN WIN situation ;)
Posted: Thu, 2008-03-13 22:20
Wow, I'm so excited you guys are going too!!
Our plan (at the moment) is to fly from Edinburgh to Koln on the Saturday, then drive to Lux. After the concert, drive back to Koln, grab a few hours sleep somewhere, & fly home Sunday.
Crazy I know, but it'll be so, so worth it.

Posted: Thu, 2008-03-13 22:24
Curly - Yup, it "only" holds 800 people, but don't expect it to be sold out - I doubt it.
Regards
Klaus

But compared to 3000 at the KB Hallen or the mega-thousands at Roskilde.... ooohhhh, I'm never gonna sleep tonight.

WIW
My plan is to get to Copenhagen in early June, then hang out here and there and practise my tiny Danish, then get to Lux (somehow - by train, bus or just hitchhike). So your carpull thing seems very attractive. No, I don't drive, but I can: aerograph you car with special design (in fact - any car), sing nasty songs with a nasty voice and give some Russian lessons. Plus, I have magnificent skill to get money from the air and solve any problems, so I can be a very useful companion

WIW:
Do you know how mutch it will be in car or bus? Is it still cheaper if we rent a bus, and pay gas? than the airline.....
Posted: Fri, 2008-03-14 00:08
SAS has 8tickets left at around 1300DKr to Luxembourg if you fly out saturday and return sunday.
A bus (that can hold 9ppl) will cost 3DKr pr KM (lets just say taht there is a 1000KM to be sure and a 1000 back) and rental at 1000DKR (inc 100KM).
So with a little luck 8ppl could do this for around 875 / 900 DKr each (+ticket).
And its a nice bus. I have rented at this place a few times before and never had any troubles. And its allowed to drive outside Denmark as well. Not all car-rental frims allow that.
The most central pickup place would be Kolding as all freeways and trains go through there.
[EDIT]
But if we go in a smaller car and only go 4 persons...
Then around 500Dkr should do the trick...
Posted: Fri, 2008-03-14 00:13
Ahh really cheap.. so if we are 8 people, is it a one day trip?
If we know that yet.. well mabye a weekend trip
Posted: Fri, 2008-03-14 00:19
Yeah, its real SIN (Strenght In Numbers ;-))
Or maybe we can catch a ride wth DAD... Not on the bus, but in the back with all the equipment
Posted: Fri, 2008-03-14 00:22
haha.. im on with that
haha just remove the skin from the drums.. use the kick drum, and fill it with pillows.. haha..
Well it could be very cool with a trip, if we can get enough people and so on....
Posted: Fri, 2008-03-14 00:33
It sounds just a little tempting
It's only a 8 hour drive or so from copenhagen
Posted: Fri, 2008-03-14 00:55
I'm in if you don't mind. I'm sure there'll be lots of fun.
If we travel with equipment, I'm sure there'll be no space for equipment at all. So, who's gonna be that drum-set, ah?

Yay! Best news this year

I was in Luxembourg 16 years ago as an au pair, and have always wanted to go back, so now hubby and I are going on a small vacation from Thursday to Sunday - the tickets are bought, we only need the hotel!
Can't wait

Hi there,
I'm not new to this board but usually I don't write too much in here (well, actually I wrote nothing so far as I see.....) but I've been following this board for almost 6 or 7 years now. Anyway this Luxemburg show came really as a surprise to me and even though I live in Germany this show is much closer to my hometown than a lot of shows in Germany that I usually attend.
So, to make along story short, I could give a lift to 2 - 3 people from abroard if they are coming somewhere near Cologne (Köln) - bacause that's the direction I have to go anyway. Could be fun.......and YOU supply the drinks *he he*
It's just an offer - feel free to contact me.
P.S. I'll be going back home after the show but I could take you back to where I picked you up before !

Hey Longhorn, you might just be the answer to our prayers!
We're flying into Koln on the Sat, can't remember the time, I'm at work right now.
I'll email you when I get home in a few hours - hang on to those car spaces for now!!

WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO!!
12 weeks tomorrow (but then, who's counting??!)
I'm all set; flights, tickets, hotel, ride from Koln & back with LongHorn (thank you sweetie pie).
And all for under £200 for both of us!!!
(But that's not including beer money and some of you that are going, I owe BIG time!!!)
I've a smile as wide as a mile, and a new set of goosebumps every time I think of it.
Posted: Sat, 2008-03-15 20:17
it could be funny with a roadtrip!
Posted: Sun, 2008-03-16 17:39
As Luxembourg is about 2:00 away from where I live, I guess I'll be there too!
Posted: Mon, 2008-03-17 21:46
Oh how much fun that would be, but I'm such a cheap ass...

hmmmmmm sounds good.
"Your fav band will entertain you all nite long"
The longer I think it over ...
Come hell or high water, l will be there!
Perhaps we wont be enuff crowd to make the venue burst, but we sure will be enuff to fuc.... rock the shack that you still feel the qake deep down in Denmark.
Gonna be fun!

Hey Markus - I KNOW!
There's just 'something' about this Lux gig that feels...
Special and...
Meant to be...
S.I.N. (As WIW said!)
See you there!

You guys have fun!
It would have been great meeting JPV and you other guys again..
I'm very fund of roadtrips, (we drove to Hamburg a wednesday night some years ago.)
BUT I have to attend my brothers wedding that day... Guess it will look bad, if I skip it. Though he always attend my trips to D-A-D concerts, so he might understand . but me being best man, my wife.. you know... It will be complicated
Posted: Thu, 2008-03-20 20:25
Yes Curly, there is something special about Lux. The atelier is well known and has got a reputation as a brillant place to start off a tour among the artists ...
i am already thinking of making a real event of it, big bally-hoo and stuff before and/or after . Hooking up with some fellow Net Pets. My humble hut is situated not far from cologne, between dusseldorf and monchengladbach (about 10 miles from dusseldorf airport).
Watcha say, guys? Anyone in from northern germany or from the cologne area? Any Danes making their way to the venue? Someone need a place to sleep before/after the show?... Walt is your host!
I will post again another time, another place.

Yeeeehaw F:O:L:K:S, it took some time to get the decision done b-b-b-but now it's for sure I'm to join this nice international crowd that will show up june 7th in Luxembourg - and I'm looking SO DAMN MUCH forward to this so to say Xtra-Show...
JPV: Would really really love to see you again this way, it's been way too many years since NYE 1999/2000...
MarcusExMachina: Though I'll start from southside of the Ruhrpott and will stay the night in Luxembourg in some cheap hotel as I don't like the idea of having a 230km ride back after the show I like the idea of having a drink (or two ;-)) with the NetPets showing up for the show, shouldn't be THAT hard to find a place for that close to the venue, huh?
Anke: A BIG thanx to Jürgen!
Smiling good-bye wavings,
Capt. Spacehead
Posted: Fri, 2008-03-21 20:33
That's really awesome ! Hey Cpt. Spacehead, I can speak German now! (not that well though!)
Yeah it's been too long, and it's also gonna be cool to meet all the other true believers that I didn't have the chance to meet yet!
VP, it would definitely have been cool to meet again, but well, later!
Posted: Fri, 2008-03-21 22:54
Since it's gonna be such an international party
I'm setting myself the challenge of speaking to everyone in their own language. (for just a couple of sentences!!!)
Okay, *deep breath* , so far we have;
Danish/Russian/Swedish/German/French.
Och, thats no problem.
But how many of you will be able to speak Scottish Gaelic?
:-):-)
Or will that just be me??
Posted: Fri, 2008-03-21 22:59
Curly.. not many, hehe but english is always the winner
Posted: Fri, 2008-03-21 23:03
Hey HC, are you going on the Kopenhavn Krazy Bus? Who's driving??
**so happy you're all going!!**
Posted: Fri, 2008-03-21 23:18

but shure i wanna go, if i can get free from the job.. no doubt... if we can settle up a ride..
Posted: Fri, 2008-03-21 23:22
Hey, sorry HC, are you about? I went in the chat but you were gone.
I'll try again!
Posted: Sat, 2008-03-22 00:18
Ahhhh... now I really want to go to meet you wonderful people!
Now is time that I wish that I would win a million in the lottery!
But I have NO money for it, so what can I say....
MONEY ALWAYS TAKES THE PLACE OF LIFE!
Posted: Sat, 2008-03-22 00:24
Tina honey, you know already how much I want you to go!
Pray to StiggeGod.
It'll happen.
Just wait.
:-):-)
Posted: Sat, 2008-03-22 11:43
Wish I could go too, I really do, but I have exams the day before and the day after so I guess it's not going to happen. But to all of you other lucky people have a nice trip and enjoy the concert. Hope to se some of you i denmark later this year.
Curly: you know there is a boat that goes straight from Harwich (england) to Esbjerg (denmark) were D-A-D often plays. It's my home town and WrittenInWaters too so if you get hooked on the lux. concert and want more then Esbjerg is the place to go:-)

Did a bit of surfing and came up with this:
Airplane:
Billund - Lux
Dep. Saturday the 7th: 0645 - arr.0955
Lux - Billund
Dep. Sunday the 8th: 1810 - arr. 2220
Cost 2325DKr
Or a traveltime of 6h50m if we wanna get the cost down to 2097DKr.
And waiting for over 6h at Frankfurt airport is NOT as fun as it may sound.
Car rental:
For a 9person bus at Hertz 4643 DKr or 7 person for 4425DKr - I once drove for these guys, new busses and cars, but expensive!
For a 9person bus at PS-Biludejning for the weekend inc. 250Km.
2600Dkr + 3Dkr pr KM + the fule we are gonna use.
And there is about 1000 to Lux...and a 1000 back ;)
A quick math:
2000Km in all*3Dkr = 6000Dkr
The bus runs 8Km on a L of gas (2000/8=250)* 10 Dkr pr. L if we are lucky = 2500DKr in fule.
So with those numbers we come to this:
2600(rental)+6000(KM money)+2500(fule money)=11100DKr/9 (if we are 9 (NINE) persons going) = 1233 Dkr each.
So its gonna cost a pretty penny + in Lux its not easy to find a cheap hotel.
And then we need the ticket at â¬30 and a hotel to crash in after the show...or we can sleep in the bus. I dont care
The alternative is we go in a private car. That will make it cheaper, but then we cant "all go together".
I think a max of 4persons in a normal car is enough when its a 8 to 9 hour drive...in the summer heat (hopefully).
Your thoughts on this, please
Or maybe you know of a better/cheaper way?
- Im not walking, running og riding a bike...unless it has a motor!
Posted: Sun, 2008-03-23 21:54
Oh God, no.
When I read WIW's mathematics, my head slumped on to the desk.
How can it be cheaper for me to come from Scotland?
Posted: Sun, 2008-03-23 22:35
it sounds really good..
dont think we can get i mutch cheaper.. if we take the train, we have to stay in lux for 6 days, before its just a little cheap..
WIW: Can the 9 people bus be drived with a nornal driving licens? dont it take some ekstra? or?
Posted: Mon, 2008-03-24 01:54
Yeah, the 9 ppl bus is for normal licens.
Are we 9 ppl?
Posted: Mon, 2008-03-24 07:38
well, may I be the one of those 9 ppl? All I need to know is the point of departure, and I can search for a cheap Lux hotel and come back with the results.

A suggestion conc. hotels - try www.booking.com - it has very useful comments and user ratings, and the maps make it easy to locate the hotels closest to the train station, which is also close to den Atelier.
Some of the hotels closest to the station are also the cheapest ones, maybe because this district is one of the less nicer ones in Lux. city, as is often the case with station areas! But I guess it doesn't matter that much if you only have to crash for one night
And still, Lux. is considered to be a quite safe place to stay, compared to other larger cities.
And then concerning the parking, it can be difficult to find a spot close to the hotels, but there are a couple of parking houses close to den Atelier (which is on Rue de Hollerich) - check out this link: http://www.vdl.lu/index.php?id=3912585&start=no&style=n&vdl_f=quartier&v...
Møffe/Heidi - who is making a holiday out of it, staying in Lux. from Tuesday to Sunday
Posted: Mon, 2008-03-24 11:57
WIW....Well i will go, if i can get free from work, and check up, that i 100% have the money..
then i'll be back with an answer..
BUT, all of you who know that you are going, can sign up now..
